Insights from Our Work
The Beginning of Community Economy
Bloemfontein. August 2025. Namibia Township. We invited the community to share what matters for a good life. 53 people gathered, aged 15 to 68.
Kasipreneurs ∙ Upcycling Unleashed
If you followed the sound of a hand drill down a sunlit lane in South Africa, you’d find him. Sleeves rolled, eyes steady, hands doing what the world too often forgets to try: mending. Around him, scrap becomes story. He doesn’t argue with rust. He answers it.
Kasipreneurs ∙ A Crocheting Community
In Bloemfontein, South Africa, a circle of women gathers around a battered kettle and a basket of leftover yarn. Hooks click like soft rain. Row by row, scraps become blankets, hats, and the kind of shawls that turn a hard day warm. These women prove that love can be tied back together one loop at a time.
A Journey Through Community Observations
A personal reflection on communty work: Over two decades of observing and engaging with a community, the learning is that true development comes from within, not through imposed solutions. Initially driven by biases and a savior complex, humbleness by the resilience and interconnectedness of communities, which are ecosystems of people, environments, and beliefs finally kicked in. Success lies in empowering communities to embrace their unique strengths and imperfections, fostering pride over pity, and recognizing that growth stems from collaboration, not external fixes.
